"Quality of Life Research in Health Care"

The All-Russian Scientific Conference "Quality of Life Research in Health Care" took place in the Pirogov National Medical-Surgical Center, Moscow on October 1-3, 2008.
The major goal of the conference - to unite specialists involved in quality of life research in order to integrate patients-reported outcomes (PROs) in health care system. The representatives of 30 cities of Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan took place in the conference.
During the opening ceremony the participants were welcomed by the President of the Pirogov National Medical-Surgical Center who emphasized the importance of integration of quality of life research in health care system, especially in clinical practice.
Conceptual and methodological issues of quality of life research in medicine have been discussed within the Plenary session, Oral sections, Round-table meeting and during the workshop "Quality of life research in clinical medicine". Of special interest were presentations of conference participants dealing with the application of quality of life and symptom assessment in clinical practice in different fields of medicine. The participants of the workshop "Quality of life research in clinical medicine" had a chance to improve their knowledge in PROs within education sessions and special training.
The Proceedings of the Conference are published in the special issue of the "Bulletin of the Multinational Center of Quality of Life Research", 2008/11-12.
