Patients with hematological malignancies are heterogeneous in terms of the Integral of quality of life index

We aimed to study quality of life (QoL) in patients with hematological malignancies using Integral QoL Index (IQLI). The results show heterogeneity of this patients' population by IQLI. Patients had no, mild, moderate, severe, or critical decrease of IQLI.
The majority of patients experienced severe or critical decrease of IQLI (23.3% and 30% of patients, respectively). The distribution of patients by diagnosis throughout the groups with different IQLI was also heterogeneous.
Analysis of patients' distribution by performance status (PS ECOG) yielded in differences across the groups: in the group with no decrease of IQLI and mild decrease of IQLI there was the vast majority of patients with PS ECOG 1 - 2 (approx. 90% of patients) whereas in the group of critical decrease of IQLI almost half of the patients (43%) had PS ECOG 3-4. Differences in symptom spectrum and their severity among the groups with different decrease of IQLI were observed.
