Quality of life in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome and nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis: relationship with medical, social and demographic factors
The results of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) investigation using SF-36 questionnaire in patients (pts) with autoimmune thrombophilia - antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis (NBTE) are presented in the article.
The study group consisted of 56 pts with APS: 28 pts with NBTE and 28 pts without NBTE. Almost all of the subscales of SF-36 were reduced in pts with APS and NBTE compared with healthy controls. The level of HRQoL correlated with gender, age and type of employment as well with duration and severity of APS whereas the presence of associated disease (secondary APS) did not have influence on HRQoL.
