Quality of life in elderly in social institution

Quality of life and well-being of the elderly in the social institution of permanent residence were studied. Life quality indexes were estimated, as well as change in satisfaction with social services during a year assessed. 123 patients were examined. The SF-36 questionnaire and objective data revealed that the quality of life in the studied group of elderly is higher than the normative data.

The results were compared to those in the developed countries. The results show high effect of using the principles of social and psychological sorting, taking into account the psychological and physical status in order to improve quality of life in older people on the example of the State Organization «Scientific and Methodological Gerontological Center».
