Anxiety and depression are highly prevalent among the population, being one of the major public health problems worldwide. Studies of anxiety-depressive disorders among patients in clinical practice are of importance as they represent medical and social burden. The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship of disease activity and the level of anxiety and depression among patients with ankylosing spondylitis with and without anemia using the HADS and Spielberger-Khanin scales. A negative effect of anemia on the level of anxiety and depression was revealed in patients with ankylosing spondylitis. Timely detection and correction of anxiety-depressive disorders will allow better compensation of the condition of patients suffering from ankylosing spondylitis.
