Comparative characteristics of health related quality of life in patients after coronary artery bypass grafting under cardiopulmonary bypass and on a beating heart
TVER STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, TVER
The development of modern medicine and its technologies provides participants in the treatment process with the right to choose the optimal treatment methods that are not only safe and effective, but also allow maintaining and, in some cases, increasing the patient's health-related quality of life. Today quality of life is a multidisciplinary problem, the solution of which requires the participation of specialists of different profiles. If we consider it as a particular phenomenon, for example, the quality of life of a patient after treatment, then with the help of its assessment it is possible to obtain a multidimensional representation, to recognize medical, psychological, socio-economic parameters and health risks, to take into account the proportionality of the?objective and subjective assessment of life and health, their temporal variability. Thus, health-related quality of life is a subjective criterion for the effectiveness of treatment and the quality of medical care provided. The aim of this work is to compare quality of life indicators in patients after cardiac surgery under various conditions. The article presents the results of a study of the quality of life of patients after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) under extracorporeal circulation and on a beating heart. We analyzed the data from a survey of patients after direct myocardial revascularization under extracorporeal circulation (n=33) and a beating heart?(n=32). The sample consisted of men (n1=19; n2=21) and women (n1=14; n2=11). A number of significant differences were revealed between the quality of life indicators in patients of the first and second groups. The level of physical, role physical, role emotional functioning and general health is significantly higher in patients after surgery performed in a beating heart. At the same time, mental health indicators are at a higher level. Further prospective studies are required with a more detailed consideration of factors that can affect the quality of life of patients and the diagnosis of their initial quality of life.
