Assessing the quality of life (QoL) in patients with gallstone disease is important for understanding the degree of influence of the disease on different aspects of the patient's life and is necessary to determine the correct treatment, including making an evidence-based decision on the need for surgical treatment. The purpose of the study is to develop a Russian version of the Otago Condition-Specific Questionnaire (Gallstone disease — pretreatment) for use in Russian gastroenterology as part of clinical practice and scientific research. The article presents the results of a multi-stage procedure for language and cultural adaptation of the Otago Condition-Specific Questionnaire (Gallstone disease — pretreatment), including with the participation of patients. High external validity of the instrument has been demonstrated. As a result, the final version of the Otago Condition-Specific Questionnaire (Gallstone disease — pretreatment) in Russian was developed, equivalent to the original and corresponding to the ethno-linguistic characteristics of the population. To finalize the development of the Russian version of the Otago Condition-Specific Questionnaire (Gallstone disease — pretreatment), it is necessary to test and assess the psychometric properties of the Russian version of the instrument — its reliability, validity and sensitivity.
