Quality of life and symptoms in patients with gastric and duodenal ulcer and non-ulcer dyspepsia
Quality of life and symptoms were evaluated in 126 duodenal ulcer patients, 25 patients with gastric ulcer and 56 patients with non-ulcer dyspepsia.
The population norms of Saint-Petersburg were used as controls. Assessment was made with Russian versions of generic questionnaire SF-36 and specific GSRS. As a result the patterns of quality of life and changes in different phases of diseases were revealed. The quantitative assessment of symptoms in patients under investigation was carrying out.
It was shown that not all symptoms were resolved by treatment, some of them were present in disease remission. Patients with non-ulcer dyspepsia exhibited significant deterioration of quality of life and pronounced symptoms both in relapse and in remission.
Quality of life and symptoms in patients with duodenal ulcer and gastric ulcer were similar excluding more severe gastroesophageal reflux in duodenal ulcer patients.
