Measuring success in health care - the time has come to do it properly!

The criteria of efficacy of health care system on the example of the UK have been considered.
Mortality data as well as waiting times are not enough to demonstrate health outcomes. A simple but effective means of measuring health status has been described.
EQ-5D is a relevant measure to be used by health care authorities to determine the value of medical interventions and health care programs in general. The examples of the use of EQ-5D in the UK are presented.
