Quality of Life Research in Younger Children with Respiratory Diseases: Development and Assessment of Psychometric Properties of the Russian Version of PedsQL (2-4, 5-7).

The goal of the present study was to develop the Russian version of PedsQL 4.0 Generic Core Scales for QoL research in children aged 2-7 years old. The study included translation procedure and cultural adaptation as well as validation procedure in direct compliance with international guidelines.
The sample (n=520) consisted of the following groups: 1) healthy children aged 2-7 years old (n=104), 2) children of the same age with different respiratory diseases (n=416), 3) parents of all above children. The results of the study showed that the questionnaire is acceptable, feasible, reliable (coefficient Cronbach), valid (measured by of "known-group" method, analysis of relations between QoL scores and external criterions, analysis of correletions between the same scales of child and parent reports, comparative analysis of QoL scores between child and parent reports) and sensitive to clinical differences depending on the disease study.
Thus, the Russian version of PedsQL 4.0 Generic Core Scales (2-4,5-7) may be used for QoL assessment in children aged 2-7 years old in Russia.
